PHECC Accredited Training:
Advanced Paramedic Training Programme
This programme is run in association with the School of Medicine, University College Dublin (UCD)
Successful candidate receive the NQEMTA from the Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC), the Higher Diploma in EMT (HDip.EMT) from UCD & a Certificate of Completion from the National Ambulance Service College (NASC)
Entitles candidates to register with PHECC at Advanced Paramedic level
Paramedic Training Programme
This programme is also run in association with UCD
Programme is 28 weeks minimum duration and includes:

9 weeks theoretical component
-
4 weeks supernumerary on an emergency ambulance
-
2 weeks supernumerary placement's at healthcare sites
-
12 weeks rostered placement's rostered placement's
-
One week Trauma Life Support course
Programme is followed by Clinical practice Internship of one year and includes professional development requirements and competence assessment
Successful candidates are awarded the PHECC NQEMT at Paramedic Level, the Diploma in EMT (Dip.EMT) from UCD and a Certificate of Completion from NASC
Entitles candidates to register with PHECC at Paramedic level
Emergency Medical Technician Programme
Minimum 4 weeks theoretical component
Programme includes one week Clinical practice component supernumerary status internship
Awarded NQEMT at EMT Level
PHECC Register at EMT Level
Emergency First Responder Programme
A 5 day programme covering general medical emergencies including oxygen administration, suctioning and the use of an Oropharyngeal airway. Assisting with some self administered medication is approved for the EFR
Cardiac First Responder Programme
One day programme covering:

Adult, Infant & Child Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use
-
Relief of Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO)
-
Administration of Aspirin for Cardiac chest pain
Driving Programmes
Driver Level One (DL1)
This course is aimed at those members of the ambulance service who will not be required to drive frontline A&E vehicles, It is ideally suited to PTS drivers and those members of the HSE who are required to drive as part of their duties.
The emphasis is on the system of vehicle control, patient comfort, vehicle sympathy and reversing / manoeuvring.
Driver level one may be used as a stand alone course for Patient Transport Purposes or as recognised prior learning for those who wish to take a DL2 or higher course in the future.
Duration: 30 hour / 5 day course
Driver Level Two (DL2):
This course is an advanced course designed to fulfil the needs of drivers of frontline Ambulances
The emphasis is on the system of vehicle control, patient comfort vehicle sympathy and reversing / manoeuvring. With additional focus given to driver development and vehicle dynamics
